Overview

The B-BBEE scorecard is the framework used to measure a company’s transformation progress across five core elements. Each element carries a specific weighting, and your overall performance determines your B-BBEE level — from Level 1 (135% recognition) to Non-Compliant.

The Five Elements

1. Ownership (25 points)

Measures the effective ownership of a company by black people. Includes voting rights, economic interest, and realised ownership points.

2. Management Control (15 points)

Evaluates black representation at board and senior management levels, including voting rights of board members and executive management participation.

3. Skills Development (25 points)

Assesses a company’s investment in training and development of black employees, including learnerships, apprenticeships, and bursaries.

4. Enterprise and Supplier Development (40 points)

Measures procurement from black-owned and black women-owned suppliers, as well as enterprise development contributions to black-owned businesses.

5. Socio-Economic Development (5 points)

Evaluates financial contributions to initiatives that benefit black communities, including health, education, and community development programmes.
